Husker Weim Rescue, Inc. is always in need of fosters. We realize our application is in depth but being able to foster takes a special commitment as we never really know the temperament for the dog coming into a rescue. Also, it can be emotional for you as it is easy to get attached to this wonderful breed. It's best if you have some knowledge of the breed. Please keep in mind, the length of time a foster pet stays varies with each dog.
Your responsibility as a foster is to get to know the dog so we can have an accurate evaluation that will help us match the dog with the right family. Some dogs come from bad situations and may need extra TLC before they can go up for adoption. To supply a safe and happy environment for each dog, Husker Weim Rescue will supply food if you need it as well as heart worm medication and other medical needs as long as the dog is in your possession. You will stay in contact with your foster coordinator to discuss if cat checks, spay/neuter, or vaccines are needed. Please note, Husker Weim Rescue has the right to conduct a home visit prior to you receiving your first foster as well as anytime Husker Wein Rescue deems necessary.
